One of the most dramatic aspects of modifying a web site template is changing the "Your Logo" graphic (or any other graphic that says "this website is mine") to reflect the name of your website or business. You will need a graphics program such as Fireworks or any reasonably sophisticated program to accomplish this. If you do not currently own programs, many programs can be downloaded for free trial periods. Go to Adobe.com downloads section.

REMEMBER IS TO "export images only".

The reason for this is: If the tables created in your graphics program are exported, they will "overwrite" the tables in your purchased design, which have been streamlined and cleaned up from the initial export.

Your hear it all the time, but we can't say it enough: PLEASE BACKUP YOUR PURCHASED FILE. YOU WILL THANK YOURSELF AGAIN AND AGAIN

Open the blank graphic in Fireworks or a program that supports layers. Using the font tool, type your site or company's name in the font you wish to display. Adjust the size, font, and color.

Fireworks and other programs have effects that can be easily added to lettering including a drop shadow, glow, bevel and more. Keep in mind that images and logos will look best if designed on a background similar in color to your new graphic, then made transparent before adding them. When the newly designed graphic suits your needs, export it back to Dreamweaver. You may want to adjust color, size or design after seeing it in the template.

Save and export the new graphic in an appropriate format for the web. Photos and gradients should be saved as .JPGs. Most others should be saved as .GIFs. Export the image. Remember to "export images only".

When you save your  new image, give it the same file name as the graphic already in the web site template. When placed in the images file, it will automatically be inserted into the template . It will overwrite the placeholder graphic that came with your template.
