After Purchasing one of our Dreamweaver website templates:

Download  file -- noting the directory/ folder you are sending it to.

Double click to install

Define Your Site

Define your site in Dreamweaver by browsing to the folder created by the exe file: Dreamweaver Templates and then select the sub-folder with the name of the specific package. You may name your local site anything you wish -- preferably something descriptive to you.

Before proceeding to develop your site, we recommend you save all your files in a backup folder on your hard drive so you'll have the original file to install again in the event you need it.

Use the template package to create a new site or add template files to an existing site.

Create new pages from the Dreamweaver templates (the .dwt files), modify sample pages (.htm files) with your own content, or reformat existing HTML pages in a site by applying a template to them. For template packages making use of the library items, do a "save as" with one of the sample pages, giving it a new name to match your site, and then add your content.

Template File (.dwt)

Most well-designed websites have areas that are repeated from page to page. These include header areas, navigation bars, information boxes, footers, etc.

Dreamweaver's template feature makes changes simple and immediate site-wide. The template package you installed contains a .dwt file located in the Templates folder.

Library Items

Several areas of the sample .htm pages may contain Dreamweaver library items. These areas are usually the footer and other repeating areas. You may continue to use these, altering them to reflect your information, or delete them entirely.

Open the library items either by double clicking on the name of the library item in the site files list, or by using the assets panel. Make the text changes, save, and the changes now appear on all pages. See our tutorials for more information on using libraries.
