LINKS

Big List of Links
Adobe Links
Dreamweaver  Links

Before you begin customizing your Dreamweaver template, you should have an idea of how many pages your site will contain and what content will be on each. Making a list or draw the structure out as a flow chart can be quite helpful. Navigation of a website should be very simple for site visitors. Information should be presented clearly.

Navigation should appear in the same place, in the same order, on all pages. Top level navigation should appear on every page. They should have the feeling of moving forward in the site. Top level navigation often consists of Home, About Us, Products, Services, and Contact Us pages.

Secondary navigation should also appear in the same area on every page, even though its content may change from page to page.

Consider Your Options
Navigational links can take on all kinds of appearances from the simple text link to the fancy buttons. here are some of your options:
Text Links Text links can be made to stand out. Text links load very quickly and are easy to see quickly. They can be made to change color in most browsers as a cursor hovers over them, with CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) applied. Search engines are able to follow them with no difficulty.
.gif links: Many of lynda designs use images for navigation, with the file format .gif. if they feature the multi-level dropdown. Be sure to use the "alt" tags on images to be more search engine friendly
.
JavaScript / DHTML
Some of our templates use JavaScript is the power of choice. JavaScript loads quickly and there are various scripts that allow rollovers (graphics that to change appearance as a cursor hovers over them), drop down menus and pull down menus and more.
Begin to personalize your new website

Once you have the tools and information for your navigation system, you can begin to put your content to the template. Be sure to use tables and cells to hold your content. By using these components, if you make a change to your navigation  bar as you are building your site, or in the future as your site grows and changes, only the template is updated for a new look, or new navigation scheme, and the update will appear throughout the site.
